First post of the year. What’s new? I got out of the gaming industry and got into web development at a start up. Can’t post any details due to the NDA, but I get to work remotely which is amazing. I love the freedom. Yesterday I was working from home, today I’m working from an office at my girlfriend’s law firm. And when I go back to San Diego next month to visit my family, I can work from there too and stay longer than just the weekend!
First, I tried psychology. Then, I tried nursing. Finally, I found true enjoyment in Computer Science. It took me a while to find my niche, and while I didn’t notice it then, I can see so clearly now that all that exploration was a necessary means to finding happiness. A few days ago, I officially became a full-time Software Engineer and I am simply over the moon. Don’t be afraid of following your dreams if your age and the time commitment is what scares you; the time will pass anyway.
I’ll be attending my first Global Gaming Expo (G2E) in a couple of weeks for my company. This is the expo where all the big shots in the casino entertainment industry get together to flaunt their stuff so I’m excited. I’m really interested to see if anyone will be showcasing games that include an element of skill into their slot machine dynamics.
